Imlil
Imlil is the High Atlas close up: walnut trees, terraced fields, mule tracks, and Toubkal above it all. It's the easiest place to go from the city to real mountains in a single morning.
Why this place stays with people
- Views toward Mount Toubkal
- Walks to nearby Berber villages
- Tamatert pass viewpoint
- Asni's weekly market on the way
Spring and autumn for walking. Summer is cooler than Marrakech; winter can bring snow and beautiful clear days.
Works as a day trip or the start of a trek. If you want to climb Toubkal itself, I'll connect you with a mountain guide I trust — that part is on foot, not in the van.
Your guide to Imlil

- The start of the Toubkal climb
Good to know
- Climbing Toubkal takes two days, and you need a licensed mountain guide.
- Even for a short walk, bring a warm layer and water.
- Mules carry bags up to the guesthouses. It's normal to use them.
Planning a visit to Imlil
How far is Imlil from Marrakech?
About an hour and a half by road.
Can I climb Mount Toubkal with you?
Toubkal is climbed on foot with a mountain guide, usually over two days. I'll drive you to Imlil and connect you with a mountain guide I trust — that part isn't in the van.
How fit do I need to be for the valley walks?
Normal fitness is enough for the village walks. We choose the paths around your group, not the other way round.
