Who handles your information
Abderrahim Gourar, known as Syphax, trading as Morocco By Syphax, based near Marrakech, Morocco. I run this website and answer every message myself. To reach me about anything on this page, use the email address in the footer of this site, or message me on WhatsApp.
What I collect
Only what you send me. If you use the Plan Your Trip form, that is your name, your nationality if you give it, your email address or WhatsApp number, and the trip details you choose: regions, interests, rough dates, trip length, how many adults, children and infants are travelling, your accommodation preference, and anything you write in the message or special requests box.
If you message me on WhatsApp or by email instead, I have whatever you chose to send there.
This website never asks for passport or payment card details.
What I do with it
I use it to reply to you, plan the trip, and run it — including passing your name to a riad, hotel or desert camp so a room can be reserved in it. That is the only routine reason your details go anywhere else.
Enquiries are stored in this website's own database, and I keep private notes against them so I can pick a conversation back up months later. I do not sell anything to anyone, and there are no advertising networks on this site.
Cookies and tracking
There is no analytics, advertising or tracking on the public pages of this site. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. The only cookie set is the sign-in cookie for me when I log into the private dashboard.
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers receive the request your browser makes for the font files, including your IP address.
The site is hosted by MonsterASP.NET, and the messages I send are delivered through my email provider. Both handle data as part of providing those services.
Photographs
I am a photographer as well as a driver, and I often take pictures during a trip. Photographs in which you are recognisable are only published on this website or my social accounts if you have told me that is fine. If you would rather I did not, say so, during the trip or afterwards, and that is the end of it.
Reviews
Reviews on the Logbook page are published with the first name or initials the guest gave and their country, and only with their permission. Ask me and I will take yours down.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that do not become trips are kept while there is a realistic chance the conversation continues, and cleared out periodically after that. Details of trips that did run are kept for my own records. You can ask me to delete your information at any point, and I will.
Your rights
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. An email or a WhatsApp message is enough — there is no form to fill in. If you are in the UK or the EU, these rights come from the GDPR, and you may complain to your national data protection authority if you are not satisfied with how I have handled something.
