Essaouira
Essaouira is where I take people when they need air: sea wind, a walkable medina, grilled fish, and no rush.

Why this place stays with people
- Essaouira medina
- Fishing port
- Atlantic ramparts
- Argan countryside on the road
Best time to go
Good all year, especially when Marrakech is hot. Expect wind; it is part of the place.
From the driver's seat
A day trip works, but one night gives you the evening after the day visitors leave.

Questions
Planning a visit to Essaouira
How long is the drive from Marrakech to Essaouira?
Around two and a half to three hours each way, through argan country. As a day trip that's about 6 hours of driving in total.
Day trip or overnight in Essaouira?
A day trip works well. An overnight is better — you get the evening and the port in the morning after the day visitors leave.
Is Essaouira windy?
Yes, often — especially in summer. It's part of the place, and it keeps the town much cooler than Marrakech.
